You can use any size memory on RAMdisk depening on only your hardware limits. Where can I get it?

I am looking for a ramdisk program, so I can put my page file on my RAM disk. One thing is sure, I will never use the 6Gb. Ramdisk are usually used for servers, or high speed situations. I don't think its even possible without a special card, let alone trying to get it working in a laptop. Unknown July 9, at PM. Newer Post Older Post Home. Subscribe to: Post Comments Atom. Tiny files, however, cripple disks. Programs like Rainmeter and Secunia PSI are must-have's simply because of how aggressive they are in constantly writing to disks. What apps are you running that are slowing down?

What tasks are you performing that are causing this lock up? That could help point to a potential app problem. Quote: You have it backwards. Not really. They're for cheap, mass storage. Quote: Tiny files, however, cripple disks. No, it isn't. Tiny files do no such thing: A great number of them all being accessed together, then sure.

But that is not the tiny files, it is the number of concurrent accesses. For example, loading the kB of uTorrent: HD takes 9ms to begin sending the file, sends it in 0 ms. SSD takes 1ms to begin sending the file, sends it in 1 ms. RAM takes 0ms to begin sending the file, sends it in 0 ms. The slowest, the HD, takes 9 milliseconds to load uTorrent. Nine milliseconds. That's below the threshold of what you see as instantaneous. It's before your finger has lifted off the mouse button.

Quote: I chose the applications on there based on how often I use them I load uTorrent perhaps once a week. What is it you do which means you keep quitting and restarting it? I can guarantee you, it is wrong. Quote: and how much space they take up. The less space they take up, the less load on the HD they are. I guarantee you, this folder is not in your RAM disk. Quote: are must-have's simply because of how aggressive they are in constantly writing to disks.
